I got a new password as a new user Or after reset my password. Can I use it forever or what should I do first?
No, you can use this default password to access the LearnOrg system for a temporary period.
All the new users or if you reset your password trough "Forgot my password" option or through Examination division or CITeS, first you have to login to the LearnOrg (https://lms.mrt.ac.lk). Then you have to change your default password through LearnOrg system. After you change your password, you can use your username and new password to access the LearnOrg, Moodle, DMS, e-Mail and Web-mail, Journal Access Library Proxy and Common Wi-Fi facilities.

How do I request for user access if I am an undergraduate student?
For undergraduate students, the user access will be automatically created when the student is registered to the university. The username will be your registration number (eg: 121234X).

How do I request for user access if I am a postgraduate (taught course such as MSc, MEng, MBA, etc.) student?
For postgraduate students who are following a taught course request can be made through the course coordinator to the Examination Division. Usually, user access will be created when the student is registered to the university. The username will be your registration number (eg: 121234X)

How do I request for user access if I am a postgraduate research student?
For postgraduate research students request should be made to the Faculty of Graduate Studies through the supervisor and head of the department.

How do I request for user access if I am a staff member?
For staff members can contact the Center for IT Services (CITeS) (Ext: 4444) to get the username and password to access the system.

I am a student and how can I reset my system password if I lost it?
First, you can try Forgot password (https://lms.mrt.ac.lk/password_change_by_mail.php) option. Or else you can go to the Examination division and show them the relevant authentication such as Student ID or Student Record Book to get the password reset OR you can take assistance from Center for IT Services (CITeS) (Ext: 4444).

I am a staff member and how can I reset my system password if I lost it?
First, you can try Forgot password (https://lms.mrt.ac.lk/password_change_by_mail.php) option. Or else you can contact the CITeS (Ext: 4444) to get the password reset.

How can I change un-editable information (e.g. Full Name, Name with initials, Primary Email, Permanent Address, etc.) on my profile?
For staff members you can contact the CITeS (Ext: 4444) and for students you can contact the Examination division to update these information.

What I can do with my user access?
For staff members and students you can access various systems and services through the single user access provided. It will give access to the LearnOrg (https://lms.mrt.ac.lk), Moodle (https://online.mrt.ac.lk), Old Moodle (https://lms.uom.lk), e-Mail and Web-mail (https://webmail.mrt.ac.lk), Journal Access Library Proxy (Address:cache2.mrt.ac.lk Port:3128) and Common Wi-Fi facilities.

If I am a batch transferred student and what should I do to get proper enrollment access?
If you are a student who was transferred to a different batch what you can go to the Examination division and show them the relevant authentication such as Student ID or Student Record Book to get transferred to the correct batch. Then the system will recognize the student in the transferred batch and the functions will proceed.

I was unable to enroll or to un-enroll during the given period. What should I do now?
The system will not allow the enrollment functions to be carried out outside the defined time period. So the student has to go and talk to the relevant Undergraduate Division to get the instructions.

I have an issue in enrollment/ un-enrollment in LearnOrg. What should I do now?
You have to contact the relevant Undergraduate Division to get the instructions.

What should I do if one of my staff members gets transferred?
If one of your staff members gets transferred outside the Division/ Department, very first step to be taken is to inform the MIS team with the details of the employee and to be made out of action. Then when the new staff member joins, further instructions will be provided by the MIS team (Ext: 3838).

What should I to get myself a Moodle Lecturer access if I am the resource person for a course module?
You can request the MIS Team (Ext: 3838) to define you as the resource person of the particular course module through the relevant head of the department.

Can we have the authority to add a lecturer to the Moodle (Learning Management System) in the department/ degree level?
MIS Team can be requested to assign privilege of defining lecturers in Moodle. Department should propose a suitable person through your head of the department.

Should I use a specific web-browser or operating system to access the system?
The systems are platform independent, however the system is fully tested in Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. So it is recommended to use those browsers for the best convenience.

How can get any support?
The online helpdesk is available at URL - http://helpdesk.mrt.ac.lk.
Then for any matter to be resolved you can contact the MIS Team through e-mail (mis@uom.lk) and telephone (+94-112-650301 Ext: 3838, 3839)
or CITeS Team (Ext 4444).

You can access comprehensive user manual through online. When you have login to the system you can access those resources by clicking the help link on top right corner.
